It’s all a cut above your standard festival fare, and there will be a large designated zone with picnic tables at Folklore, meaning you’ll be able to get in early and enjoy a scrumptious spot of lunch with a tasty ale before the action gets going.

The food in the Folklore Hospitality area will be provided by Danny’s of Gorey and St Aubin, and proprietor Danny Moisan has a delicious Thai and Moroccan-inspired menu to tantalise the tastebuds with tasty curries, soups and tagines, all cooked with the finest fresh ingredients.

There’s even a Veuve Cliquot champagne tent for those who like to party in style. All Hospitality ticket holders will enjoy a complimentary meal voucher and flute of champagne upon entry to the festival.

At the festival you’ll also find ice creams from Spiral Ices and doughnuts from Naughty Monkeys, as well as a cider bar, real ales and beer tent all at basic pub prices, and of course soft drinks.

We’d like to reassure you by reminding you that the live action from the main stage will take place under the shelter of an open-sided BIG TOP TENT!

Glastonbury Festival regulars might experience a sense of déjà vu on entering: it’s the same structure used for the John Peel Stage there and has hosted legendary sets by the likes of Noah & the Whale, Florence & the Machine and The Black Keys in recent years, and come rain or shine will be the perfect setting for VAN MORRISON and co!

The Agapanthus Stage is also set undercover, and we will be allowing umbrellas in to the festival, so when you’re exploring the festival site or enjoying the picnic area, you’ll be able to keep dry if the rain does fall.

Of course let’s all hope for not one but two Sunny Afternoons! Well, three if you count RAY DAVIES’ one.

Joining an already impressive looking line up is a true legend of music, the ‘Queen of Rockabilly’ WANDA JACKSON.

The septuagenarian Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s career has spanned generations; since releasing her very first single, ‘You Can’t Have My Love’ in 1954 and establishing herself as the first female artist to spearhead the emerging rock n’ roll movement, with the 1958 hit ‘Let’s Have a Party’ (a tune she made her own despite her one-time boyfriend Elvis Presley having already released a version of it), she has seen it all. Rightly regarded as playing a pivotal role in the evolution of popular music, Wanda Jackson has been a tireless performer for over 50 years, spent years as a star attraction on the Vegas circuit, and her stock with rockabilly and country music fans is as high as ever, with a new generation of fans discovering her impact on rock n’ roll.

One such fan is The White Stripes’ founder Jack White, who produced, arranged and performed on her last album The Party Ain’t Over, released on White’s label Third Man Records. Having collaborated with such diverse artists as Elvis Costello, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jools Holland, The Cramps and Roy Clark, Jackson’s impact has been felt by a wide spectrum of artists including The Fall (who covered her hit ‘Funnel of Love’), Cyndi Lauper

(who publicly acknowledged her influence) and a whole generation of rockabilly revivalists. In 2010 she was given the Americana Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance, presented to her by Jack White. In 2005 she was immortalized on the silver screen when she was portrayed by Amy LaVere in the Oscar-nominated Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line.

At the tender age of 74, Wanda is still going strong and her live show packs more energy than many of her younger counterparts – with songs like ‘Fujiyama Mama’ and ‘Mean Mean Mean’ in her back catalogue, it’s set to be a show that packs a punch. One of only three UK dates this summer her Folklore appearance is a rare opportunity for British music fans to see a truly iconic star in the flesh.

Also confirmed to perform on the Saturday at the festival is young up-and-coming folk starlet JAKE BUGG. Since appearing on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury last year, the 18 year-old singer-songwriter has enjoyed extensive Radio One airplay and been signed to recording giants Universal, and with artists such as Donovan and Johnny Cash influencing his country-tinged folk music, he’s sure to be one of the highlights of this year’s festival. Kicking off the proceedings on the Big Top Main Stage is singer-songwriter RICK JONES. The Newport born, Jersey-based acoustic artist is a guitarist of staggering technical proficiency and his folk, blues and country-inflected ballads making him a firm favourite with Jersey’s music fans. A regular performer at Folklore’s sister festival Jersey Live, he’s an artist more than worthy of opening the inaugural Folklore Festival.

Since his Mercury Award-winning and platinum-selling debut album The Hour of the Wilderbeest in 2000, Mancunian Gough has gone on to become one of the best-loved artists to emerge from Britain in recent years, not to mention one of the most industrious. As well as releasing eight studio albums, he founded Twisted Nerve Records with long-term collaborator Andy Votel and has scored several film soundtracks, including the critical success About a Boy and this year’s Being Flynn, starring Robert De Niro, and Gough has also collaborated with such influential British artists as UNKLE and Doves. A truly independent pop visionary, Badly Drawn Boy is a welcome addition to the Folklore line up. www.badlydrawnboy.co.uk

Performing earlier on Sunday’s Main Stage line up is Scottish singer-songwriter FINLEY QUAYE. Son of the great jazz musician Cab Quaye (and godson of Duke Ellington), Finley shot to fame with his multi platinum-selling debut album Maverick A Strike, which earned him a 1997 MOBO Award for Best Reggae Artist and a 1998 Brit Award for Best Male Solo Artist. The list of his collaborative partners reads like a who’s who of contemporary music: Iggy Pop, Primal Scream, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Beth Orton are just a few of them. Sun- kissed hits such as ‘Your Love Gets Sweeter’ and ‘Sunday Shining’ are sure to make for the perfect soundtrack for a Sunday afternoon at Folklore. www.finleyquaye.com

Completing Sunday’s Main Stage line up and opening the proceedings is one of Jersey’s finest musical exports in recent years, LLOYD YATES. Since being spotted performing at London’s Troubadour Club by EMI Vice-President of A&R Daniel Lloyd Jones, Lloyd has been signed to a publishing deal with the label and has been working tirelessly with Jason Boshoff, writing with Starsailor front man James Walsh and an EP Bring Back The Life is due out in July. Although a brand new artist to the wider world, Lloyd is well-known to the local audience, his unique brand of reggae and bluegrass-inflected folk making him a firm favourite with a loyal island following. www.lloydyates.com

Set in the coastal outskirts of St Helier, the heart of Jersey, Folklore is the Channel Islands’ newest boutique music and arts festival, and becomes the most southerly festival in the British Isles…

Enjoying more sunshine than any other part of Britain, and situated just 15 miles from the coast of France, Jersey is famed for its stunning beaches, lush countryside and uniquely Anglo-Gallic culture – and of course for the iconic 80s TV detective, Bergerac.

Its blend of cosmopolitan lifestyle and unspoiled landscape make it the perfect festival destination and the first wave of acts announced for Folklore confirm it as one of the most enticing UK festivals this summer.

The Main Stage will be headlined on the Saturday night by Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer and multiple Grammy-winning VAN MORRISON whose biggest hit ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ remains one of the best-loved pop songs of all time. Sunday night’s headliner is the one and only RAY DAVIES, the former Kinks frontman and founder, and the man behind such classics as ‘Lola’, ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘Waterloo Sunset.’ Also performing on the Main Stage over the weekend are French bossa nova trio NOUVELLE VAGUE, legendary reggae pioneer LEE ‘SCRATCH’ PERRY, Grammy-nominated British singer-songwriter JOAN ARMATRADING and one of the most enigmatic artists of the late 60s and early 70s, RODRIGUEZ. Comparable to the likes of Arthur Lee’s Love and The Byrds, Detroit’s Sixto Diaz Rodriguez’s two albums were works of shimmering psychedelic beauty before he disappeared from the music world only to re-emerge 30 years later as a cult hero.

A second stage will feature an array of live music, film, poetry, comedy and theatre over the weekend, with the iconic punk poet JOHN COOPER CLARKE confirmed to appear on both days.

With a capacity of just 5,000 daily, Folklore’s cosy site ensures that this will be an intimate affair, and with one of the warmest local music crowds you could hope to meet it’s a festival at which many a friendship will be forged! Just a stone’s throw from the beach, it’s about as perfect a festival setting as you’ll find.

FOLKLORE is the latest addition to Jersey’s event calendar, and plans are now well underway for a festival that will be unlike anything ever staged on the Island. With a capacity of just 5,000 attendees per day, alternative live music, comedy, theatre, poetry and film will take place across two stages at Peoples Park in Jersey on the weekend of June 30th and July 1st.

Following the recent announcement that 3- times Grammy-nominated artist Joan Armatrading will perform at the inaugural festival, the organisers are pleased to announce that they have confirmed the first of Folklore’s two Main Stage headliners. Topping the bill on Saturday 30th June is one of pop’s most legendary performers, Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison.

The winner of six Grammy Awards and an inductee to both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Van Morrison OBE (real name George Ivan Morrison) is without doubt one of rock n’ roll’s most enduringly loved songwriters, with hits such as the immortal ‘Brown Eyed Girl’, ‘Sweet Thing’, ‘Domino’ and ‘Madame George’, an integral part of the soundtrack to the 60’s and 70’s. Having recorded a mammoth 33 studio albums since his debut in 1967 (including 1968’s seminal Astral Weeks, considered his masterpiece), he’s one of the most prolific recording artists of all time. As well as the aforementioned Grammy Awards, he has also picked up a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music (1994), an Ivor Novello, a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was ranked 24th in Rolling Stone’s magazine’s 2008 list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.’ In 2002, he was even bestowed with the honour of being featured on an Irish postal stamp.
